Yes, it's totally possible to do a day trip to Machu Picchu. The most important thing to keep in mind is to book your entrance tickets quite in advance.
The average time to visit Machu Picchu is 3 hours (llaqta Machu Picchu). However, if hiking the Huayna Picchu/Machu Picchu mountain, you'll need at least a couple of hours more.
The best advice we can give you is "book in advance". However, we're aware that there are last-minute travelers wanting to visit the Inca citadel. In this case, we can provide you with last-minute tickets. Feel free to contact us to help you out.
In the Andes, temperature changes too much between night and day. During the rainy season (November-March) we have cloudy days with rain at night. On the other hand, during the dry season (May-September) you can expect very cold nights and warm sunny days.
If visiting Machu Picchu, make sure to bring proper clothing. We suggest sunglasses, a sun hat, a long-sleeved shirt, water, and comfortable shoes for walking. If coming during the rainy season, a raincoat is highly recommended.
We suggest booking your trip from April to September since sunny and warm days are common during this period. On the other hand, if coming during the rainy season, you'll likely have less crowds than in the peak season.
Trains have no WiFi, but you can have access at the train stations.
We can add the Huayna Picchu hike to your package as long as there's availability. We recommend that you contact us at least 3 months before your arrival. To have more details, check our blog post regarding the Huayna Picchu Mountain hike.
The train included in the package is the Expedition by Peru Rail. However, we can upgrade your train service upon request. Other panoramic trains are the Vistadome, the Voyager, the 360°, Hiram Bingham, etc. We recommend checking our post trains to Machu Picchu to get more details.
We offer day tours to Machu Picchu from USD 298.00. It'll depend on the date you're coming to, the number of people and the train category you select.
We recommend this tour package for children and families since it's easy and safe. All places have easy access and all facilities for visitors. Children have discounts on many sites, so feel free to contact us and get your quotation.
To guarantee all services, we recommend that you book your package at least 3 months in advance. Last-minute bookings are also possible but subject to availability.
